Rune Factory 4 (Nintendo 3DS, 2013)

Doug has a sneaky plan for Christmas that’ll result in an accidental, almost-date for him and Dylas. But do Doug’s ideas ever go as planned? Enjoy this not-so-timely Christmas fic! I blame the second coming of an evil cold and an exceptionally persistent migraine for its delay. Being commercial is kind of what we do for a living. Trying to cash in on Christmas. The words were squished together; advertising space was pricey at this time of the year.

This week all I have been doing was studying for exams and doing assignments. I had to throw RF4 and Voltage games aside in order to concentrate. There are so many sequels and a few main stories out.

Nov 25,  · Rune Factory 4 is the much better game. I’ve played both, and enjoyed both well enough, but SoS starts slow and gets really grindy toward the end. RF4, on the other hand, is very nearly perfect — only suffering from a bit of RNG dictating when you can start postgame activities.

Stardew valley is a long time investment, like runefactory 4 is but you need to do a few things to get items for the community center that kind of suck. I mean it is a good way for you to get to know the whole game and all it offers but i think the request box in rune factory 4 did it better. On the other hand both offer great freedom, which can be hardly found in other games. On the whole point of setting i would suggest rune factory 4 is better, since the fantasy universe it is placed in is just superior, yet i do feel more relaxed in stardew.

In terms of gameplay both are great too. If you liked farming in general you will enjoy stardew, only the livestock seems kind of underwhelming. Crops get leveled with fertiliezer, which is fine but rune factory 4 had all those micromanaging aspects of ground quality and whatnot, which was really interesting too. My biggest regret is that you can’t grow crops out of season in stardew. Summerized i would say you should try both and see what you like more yourself.

They are similiar but not the same. The aspect i am missing in stardew valley is the monster variety, monster taming and the usefullness of livestock. A little bit more micromanagment, like ground quality like in rune factory 4 would not hurt but it is really relaxing to just plant whatever you want, too. The characters in rune factory 4 feel more alive simply because they have more lines each day but stardew valleys characters have a lot of thought put into them as well. All in all stardew feels more relaxing and rune factory feels more complex and big but also more rewarding.

Using the same material cuts its bonus in half with each use. To tame a monster, you must first build a monster barn you’ll get one through Eliza. Next, give some items to a monster; if you’re successful, a heart will form over their head. If you’ve failed after multiple tries, your monster barn may be full 4 per room , you may be too low level, or you may not be giving it the right item.

In the case of bosses, they have special wants: Royal Curry, Ultimate Curry G.

Published by Miguel Concepcion on Oct 11, You need only look to the dragons and action role-playing game combat to see that the game embraces the “fantasy” part of the series’ slogan, “A Fantasy Harvest Moon. You also have to partake in quests, vanquish monsters in dungeons, and assume the role of an accidental prince. These elements are interwoven throughout a central narrative of unusual depth for this franchise. The initial developments of Rune Factory 4’s story get to the point so quickly and effectively, you might not have time to roll your eyes at the sustained rollout of Japanese role-playing game plot cliches.

After one blow to the head, you end up with a case of amnesia and escape by falling off the airship.

Rune Factory 4 isn’t only about farm work, dating and adventure. The game also boasts one of the most humorous and dramatic individual encounters with the people of the town. Even my most hated character (Dr. Jones) made me warm up to him after his town event which is shared with Arthur and Porcoline.

Also does taking him on more dates increase the chance of the sub events happening? I’ve been on 6 or 7 dates with him so far. I’ve tried the sleeping trick but so far it hasn’t worked. Yes, I’m a girl gamer. Seriously it’s not that uncommon. That said, I finally triggered it when I started sleeping a couple nights in a row, and I started to get events on the second night. The first night I was sleeping and having no luck with events , someone’s birthday Bado’s was on the day after the first night. So I don’t know if birthdays can interfere with sub-events. Then I was having no luck unlocking the other sub-event For Clumsy You , but I finally went on one more date with Dylas to the general store, where I had options of buying something like four different items, and the fourth was ridiculously expensive.

I have been mainlining Rune Factory 4 so hard, I’ve had to take pain meds for my shoulders and hands. Even though I only played through the first ten minutes or so of RF2, I have found myself completely drawn in by a story that largely features the best way to grow turnips, all while saving the world.

Rune Factory has always been more expansive than its sister series Harvest Moon, building off of the social and farming focus to include battles and broader skill sets. Rune Factory 4 is no different, adding in new elements and polishing previous mainstays. With so much to see and do within the game, this simulation is perfectly set up to sabotage any social life you have as you get sucked into the world of Selphia and all it has to offer.

True to tradition, players take control of an amnesiac hero, whose gender is determined by the player for the first time in the series. Our hero is travelling by airship on a mission to deliver a mysterious object to the god-dragon, Lady Ventiswell, in the town of Selphia. Unfortunately, no sooner have they announced their intention when looters show up, knocking out the protagonist and all their memories.

The object falls off the airship, followed soon by our hero. The real prince does show up soon, but is perfectly okay with the hero taking over, preferring to focus on his own business interests in town instead. These points can be used to throw festivals, expand businesses, open shops, obtain various licenses, increase different storage spaces, or even to decide who wakes you up in the morning.

Festivals are a fun diversion, and the citizens of Selphia certainly find a reason to celebrate on a near weekly basis. These holidays are usually competitive and wonderfully varied, so they never grow old. They can range from simple farming competitions where you advocate for your chosen plant, fishing competitions, or even fun mini-games such as the Turnip festival where you throw balls at falling turnips worth different points.

The trophy room also contains the high and low records for each fish you catch, the option to change the difficulty level for the game, and the winning pictures, complete with character commentary, for an illustration contest Neverland Co.
